    Call for Papers & Posters - Open to postgraduates and undergraduates

    DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL TUESDAY, 27 OCTOBER 2020


    The Health Informatics Society of Ireland (HISI) invites you to become a member (student membership is free) and submit high-quality paper and poster contributions for the HISI Annual Conference which will be hosted online, on November 18th/19th and 25th/ 26th. Your academic papers, research findings, case experiences will contribute to the successful implementation of eGovernment, eHealth or eInclusion services in Ireland, Europe and beyond. HISI invites contributions of both an empirical and theoretical nature, from a legal, societal, cultural, commercial, organisational and/or technical perspective. While identification of problem areas and challenges is important, contributions that also contribute towards solving challenges are preferred.

    Posters will also be accepted in size A0, portrait. Please state paper or poster on your submission.

    The deadline for abstract submission is the 19th October 2020 27th October 2020.

    Successful authors will be invited to present their work online at the Conference in November.

    Article guidelines

    • Abstract summary of 200-300 words.

    • Keywords and  key sentence.

    • Tables, pictures and figures sent as attachments.

    • References: Vancouver style.


    Type of material and style

    Papers should be original and of high quality and if published elsewhere, they should provide for a different perspective. For example, research papers and case studies that help towards promoting, sharing and re-using knowledge, experiences and lessons learnt. The style and terminology used and the ideas expressed should be clear and accessible to a wide audience. Such clarity should not be detrimental to the depth and precision of contents.

    Article structure

    Language: English

    Title: The title should be no longer than 15 words.

    Abstract: Every submission must include an abstract of 200-300 words in English. The abstract shall present the main points of the paper and the author's conclusions.

    Keywords: 3-6 descriptive keywords need to be included.

    Key sentence: A single sentence which stands out in the article.

    Full texts: Full texts are not required.

    Graphics: The text may be enriched with non-textual data, such as pictures, tables and figures. Graphs and images must be included in the article but also as separate files. The pictures should not exceed 500 pixels in width.

    Conclusion: all papers should include a conclusion.

    Author profile: All authors must be a member of HISI.

    Submission of material

    Texts should be sent to conferences@ics.ie in electronic format, preferably .DOC, .DOCX, .PDF or similar. The file name should include the author's name and the poster's/paper's name. Please type in the subject of the email "Paper/ poster submission HISI 2020".

    Graphs and images may be included in the article but as separate files. Each graph or image must be clearly named (e.g. Figure1, graph3).

    Should the images used have copyrights, it is the responsibility of the author to obtain the necessary permission.

    If the submission exceeds 20 MB, please send the file(s) in a compressed (ZIP) format.
